Anonymous asked: do you have any picture book recommendations i can read to children and why you chose them? thank you :)

I have many recommendations, but I think, really, the only why I can give you is that they captivated me as a child. The story and the illustrations just work so well together in these. Some of them are a little silly, but they’re all just good stories. A few of them are Caldecott winners or Caldecott honor books, which means the illustrations are exceptionally fine. I’ll add links so you can check them out for yourself.

Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle (He has a bunch of others, but this one is probably the best known—and my favorite.)
Make Way for Ducklings and Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey
Swimmy, Frederick, Fish Is Fish, Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse by Leo Lionni
Anything by Dr. Seuss, really, but The Lorax is my very favorite.
The Story About Ping by Marjorie Flack
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett
The Giant Jam Sandwich by John Vernon Lord and Janet Burroway
A, My Name Is Alice by Jane Bayer
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff
Strega Nona by Tomie dePaola
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst
